Join Our Mission: Build the Tech Bridge for Rural India

At Upcoming Tools, we don’t just write code, configure databases, or design websites. We are on a mission to democratize technology. We are building a secure, high-performance digital bridge that takes complex corporate tools – like enterprise CRM systems, real-time inventory synchronization, and generative AI models – and places them directly into the hands of local, rural, and village entrepreneurs across India.

To scale this mission, we are looking for passionate, high-caliber remote freelancers. Whether you are looking for long-term retainers, short-term contract sprints, daily-rate tasks, or project-based milestones, we have a place for your expertise.

But working with us requires more than technical skill. It requires character, empathy, and a deep commitment to nation-building.

Our Standard: The Nation-Building Practicum

Before you read any further, you must understand our primary qualifying condition. We do not hire based on resume bullet points or prestigious degrees alone. We hire based on proof of impact.

Every single freelancer who applies to work with us must successfully complete one pro-bono service project for a verified rural or village small business as their primary qualification step.

  • Why we do this: It acts as our “Nation-First” entrance test. It proves you have the empathy to translate complex technology for grassroots entrepreneurs and the work ethic to deliver world-class results under real-world constraints.
  • The rules:
    • If you fail to deliver exceptional results on this practicum, your application ends immediately.
    • If you pass, deliver outstanding value, and prove your dedication to local business empowerment, you will be onboarded into our active freelancer network for paid long-term, short-term, or project-based contracts. Rates and project salaries are decided dynamically based on experience and project scale.

Open Freelance Roles & Qualifying Challenges

1. Remote Technical & SEO Content Writer

  • Contract Type: Task-Based / Short-Term / Long-Term
  • Location: Remote (Work from Home)
  • The Role: You will write high-ranking, clean, and deeply engaging educational articles, blog posts, news roundups, and product comparisons. You must possess the rare ability to explain advanced tech concepts (like cloud API syncing, headless e-commerce, or predictive AI) in plain, jargon-free English and regional languages, fully optimized for modern search engines and AI scrapers.

Illustrative Example of Your Qualifying Challenge:

  • The Goal: Write an SEO-optimized, zero-jargon article designed to get local web exposure for a traditional handloom silk weaver or regional handicraft maker located in a rural village.
  • The Deliverable: A 1,200-word educational guide explaining the cultural value and craftsmanship of these specific products, optimized with highly targeted local search keywords.
  • The Standard: The article must be ready to publish, structured with pristine metadata (Title, H2/H3 tags, Alt text guidelines), and written with such clarity that an urban customer instantly understands how their purchase directly supports a master artisan’s family.

2. Mid-Range LLM Prompt Engineer

  • Contract Type: Project-Based / Task-Based
  • Location: Remote (Work from Home)
  • The Role: You will design, test, and optimize system prompts, few-shot generation templates, and agentic workflows using mid-range Large Language Models (such as Claude 3 Haiku, GPT-4o-mini, or Llama 3). Your goal is to build ultra-stable, hallucination-free prompts that power localized AI business tools.

Illustrative Example of Your Qualifying Challenge:

  • The Goal: Build a highly resilient LLM system prompt that processes spoken voice transcriptions (which are often grammatically broken, mixing regional languages and English) from a village grocery store owner and converts them into a clean, structured JSON format for automated order dispatching.
  • The Deliverable: A system prompt and few-shot examples that can ingest a raw transcript (e.g., mixing regional words for sugar, rice, or soap with broken English) and reliably output a clean JSON array with correct product names, quantities, and priority tags.
  • The Standard: The prompt must handle linguistic blending, filter out conversational filler words, and must never hallucinate items not mentioned in the voice transcript.

3. Remote Web Developer (Full-Stack / Frontend)

  • Contract Type: Long-Term / Short-Term / Daily-Task
  • Location: Remote (Work from Home)
  • The Role: You will build, deploy, and maintain lightweight, lightning-fast web applications, local business landing pages, and API-driven databases. Because our target audience includes users in tier-3 cities and villages with limited network connectivity, your code must be exceptionally clean, highly responsive, and optimized to run on low-end mobile devices and slow mobile networks.

Illustrative Example of Your Qualifying Challenge:

  • The Goal: Code and deploy a single-page static web storefront for a small, local farming collective, designed to showcase seasonal harvests and accept pre-orders.
  • The Deliverables: A fully responsive, single-page HTML/CSS/JS application (or React build) that loads in under 1.5 seconds on a simulated 3G network connection. It must feature a visual gallery, local SEO schema markup, and a lightweight order submission form that sends structured leads to a backend system.
  • The Standard: Zero dependency bloat. The final page must pass strict web-vital audits (LCP under 1.8 seconds, mobile accessibility score above 95, and 100% responsive accuracy on outdated mobile browsers).

4. Remote Automation & CRM Integration Specialist

  • Contract Type: Project-Based / Long-Term Retainer
  • Location: Remote (Work from Home)
  • The Role: You will design and deploy automated digital workflows, API pipelines, and custom CRM systems (with a heavy focus on Zoho CRM, Hubspot, and automated communication APIs like WhatsApp Cloud API and SMS gateways). You will turn chaotic manual tasks into automated, self-healing background operations.

Illustrative Example of Your Qualifying Challenge:

  • The Goal: Build an automated pipeline for a small-scale milk and dairy distribution cooperative in a rural area that updates local retail points on daily delivery statuses.
  • The Deliverable: Configure a functional workflow logic using standard webhook setups. When a delivery agent updates a simple Google Sheet row to “Dispatched,” the system must trigger an automated, personalized notification to the respective retail store owner’s WhatsApp number using a webhook, pulling in variables like delivery driver name, estimated arrival time, and milk crate counts.
  • The Standard: The workflow must include error-handling protocols to prevent duplicate messages and must utilize free or highly subsidized, zero-maintenance operational layers suitable for a small business’s budget constraints.
